Just noticed that 4 out of 5 of those are Irish. Glad that that was totally accidental. Most of the links here bring you to a bandcamp site. A brilliant way to buy music directly from the bands.

Hot Colossus

Poster for Hot Colossus (doi: I'm playing guitar). The idea being that the band is like five Rockies, fighters, triers etc. So I sourced five shots of Rocky in training (more or less), crudely cut them out and put them together. The background is supposed to look like Rocky's sweaty hoody, topped with a "sporty" font, City Bold. It's fun, I like it.

A follow on from the BVSC post. The exact same thing went on here recently with a gig for the Avett Brothers. They both do the job.

T-shirt design based on a secondary school doodle. Considering printing these up. I'd buy one.

The Cujo Family

Another one for Sin é in Dublin. Poster for The Cujo Family. It doesn't look like it but there was quite a bit of work involved in this one. I took their album cover The Hate In My Heart and removed all the text from that and recreated the canvas texture for the whole thing. Lastly I wanted to use a font that I'd never usually use but that still fit with The Cujo Family's style. 

Halloween

Here's a Halloween Party poster in Sin é, Dublin. Here's the story with this one. The whole layout is based on a lovely vintage Brylcream ad. The man is classic dancing Elvis. I put a knife from the film Halloween in his right hand and in case that was too subtle I replaced Elvis' face with a skull and put some blood in the background. The addition of the skull could have done with an extra hour or so and Elvis's positioning is a bit off but you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

Red Queen Contest

Enough with the old stuff. Here's something that hasn't even happened yet. A band from my part of the country, Red Queen Contest, playing in Whelan's next month. Breaking the GGBB rule (good guys bad band).

Turn

Poster for the band Turn who more or less split up years ago. I suppose it was never actually official so they're making it so with a bit of a party this christmastime. Ollie plays solo these days. His album, We Albatri, is good stuff. I originally did something a bit more poetic for this but a more old school poster was what was required. I ended up quickly doing a screen grab of this! Whatever works.

Kaleidoscope Night

How long can a theme keep going. This is the 39th poster in Kaleidoscope series. What is it? It's a monthly live classical music club. This usually happens in the comfortable surroundings of the Odessa Club but this poster is for the 3rd birthday night in The Sugar Club. Well done to Clíodhna Ryan, Kate Ellis and crew who drive this thing every month.

Back To Mine

Photoshopping galore in this poster/onesheet for my bud Ian Lawton's film Back To Mine. Ian supplied  three photographs and together we worked on this. Him saying things like "redder blood" and me creating layer after layer of grime.

Good Girl

Poster for Good Girl, a short film by my New Zealand bud Robert Holt. Robert had quite a clear idea about he wanted this to look. I just made it happen.
