Here's a section of a listings ad that appeared in The Ticket (The Irish Times friday music magazine) back in 2008. Yes it's Mumford & Sons who are now massive playing in Doyle's in Dublin. Interesting.

Large Mound

Large Mound poster from 2008. A little more restrained that the one below. This is based on the cover of the album Raised On Rock which is a piece by an artist named Dave Ford, a truck drawing. I read that Dave is doing more Truck Drawings, check this facebook page. This drawing was from 2000 or 2001 so it's nice to read that it is still getting attention. Dave's latest work uses swings and lots of drums, looks cool. Here's his blog.

Anyway, Large Mound decided to play Raised On Rock from start to finish just like some famous band would play an important album. The mere though was hilarious to us. We asked Queen Kong to play, they'd just given us our first gig in Cork.

Johnny Foreigner

Johnny Foreigner  from 2008 playing at the short lived Club NME Dublin. I think this club only lasted about 3 night. As far as I can remember it was monthly. This may have been the first one. I just looked up the band in order to provide the link and I see they are still going, which is nice.

Noah and the Whale

Another poster from 2008. This is for Noah & The Whale as part of the Soundtrack Festival. The guests on this night ended up being The Mae Shi and Crayonsmyth.

New Zealand band Collapsing Cities came to Dublin in 2008. A quick web search informs me that they are still going and have a new album coming out in 2011.

Alabama 3

I was searching for Alabama 3 stuff today today and an image search found this photo in some guy's Picasa Web Album. It's a billboard I put together in 2008. I think the owner of the photo was on holiday in Ireland at the time. The band sent over tight specs for this show.

Antics 2

New Year's Eve 2008 Antics held a big 3 room bash. The only thing I remember about this was that it had to be done in a hurry. Antics ends its 5 year reign tonight.

Deus

Deus poster from 2008. This is just the album cover they were touring at the time. Thing is 'deus' is done in this really thin scratch on the cover. Not ideal for a poster that sometimes needs to be seen from a distance. So I took it into illustrator and bulked it out. I hope it retained some of the spirit of the original, erm, not so sure about that. So anyway, I decided to hand draw the other text too.
