Ian Brown

Sure aren't the Stone Roses back together now. This is one of the first billboard poster I did, way back in 2000, Ian Brown in the Redbox... and isn't it terrible. £16.50 for a ticket, quite expensive really.

Gangstarr

Just thinking about what to post today when I read this. Guru of Gangstarr is in a coma following a heart attack. Hope he makes it through... This 2 colour billboard poster is from, I think, 2003 when they came back to Ireland for the first time in 10 years. It's a big duotone print, something I'd avoid at all costs these days.

Ice T

Ice-T, the original gangster, doing two nights in Dublin back in 2004. One big gig and then a small club gig. Would have been cool to see him in the 350 capacity CrawDaddy. I thought this poster was pretty good at the time, but I look at it now... ugh, it's awful.

The Sun Ra Arkestra

Another 2 colour billboard poster. This one is as old as the hills, it's from 2001, for The Sun Ra Arkestra doing something of a double header with David Holmes. There's so much wrong with this one, it's an almost good looking poster.

Arab Strap

A billboard poster from 2003. Based on the Arab Strap album from the time. Interesting line up, Bright Eyes opening and then what must have been one of The Idiots' last gigs. Bright Eyes's first Irish gig maybe? Not sure.

Napalm Death

Another BIG LOGO poster. This time for Napalm Death playing Dublin in 2002. Notice Large Mound opened this gig. I think some people enjoyed us.

George Clinton

Here's the first of four different George Clinton shows I've done over the years. I think this was 2003, his Irish debut. This is a 2 colour poster, full colour posters weren't being done back then. Inspired to dig this out because my friend and I were digging through records the other day and I found a GC album and put it on... go to say it didn't last too long. Erm, the kids didn't like it. More George Clinton posts later.

G-Unit's Lloyd Banks

Talking of getting away with it. Check this out. Poster for G-Unit's Lloyd Banks from 2003 or 2004. Brief, take the Beg For Mercy album cover and put Lloyd's head on 50 Cent and Tony Yayo's bodies. Pretty funny. Anyway the gig went ahead and nobody got shot.

The Fall (Part 2)

Here's an old old The Fall poster. This is from 2001 when they were touring The Unutterable. Back in the days of the Redbox and punts (£). Above is the 2 colour screen printed version. Some funny moments at this gig where Mark was "live mixing", which actually involved walking over to the guitarist's amp and turning it down. The Fall are a band I've just dipped my toes into, what I have I generally like. They've been on my ToDo list for ages now. Too much flipping music...

Lee 'Scratch' Perry & The Mad Professor

Another Mad Professor related poster. This time from way back, I'll take a guess at 2003, when he appeared with Lee Perry. I've liked this for a long time. I'm pleased with the drawing of Lee and Clarendon is one of my favourite fonts but I wish I'd have spent more time getting the outlines right!

Dexys Midnight Runners

Probably 2000 or 2001. This was one of the first fly-posters I did. I even bought the album in order to scan the cover, the internet was that slow. Pretty disappointing that the gig was cancelled in the end.
