Grand Drive on tour in Ireland way back in 2001. Just had a look at their myspace page and can't work out if they're still on the go or not.

Dot Creek

Really old one this, price still in £!. Anyway, this is from 2001. Dot Creek were a really good band, most of the time. No, really. When they were ON they were fantastic, the planets didn't always align though. This poster is a two colour job for their album launch just over 9 years ago. All of the design elements come from their album cover, by the excellent Niall McCormack, I just put this one together.

Run DMC

Here we go, an old one, this is from 2001. Run DMC playing Dublin and Cork back in the day. This is another 2 colour billboard poster, not sure why all the ticket details are missing from this file. Or why RUN DMC is not centered between the two red lines!

Joan Of Arse / More Decade stuff

Irish band poster from 2001, well not quite. This was a poster from 2001 for Joan Of Arse. I just did a little bit of reworking on it, they would never have allowed their name to be at the top like this. Plus the original was done in the days of bad photocopiers so it was mainly white instead of black. The illustration was an etching by a then very young Nicole Murphy (now studying art in Galway).

I dug this out because I was thinking about Irish albums of the decade. Trying to narrow that one down was turning into a stupid long post with multiple albums by the same bands, like, how do you choose between 3 Corpo or 3 Rednecks albums? So just quit the crap and post ONE.

Joan Of Arse, Distant Hearts A Little Closer (2001).

My Irish album of the decade. A band on top of their game. This is full of ideas and hard work. They bit the bullet and went to Chicago to record it with Albini and did it. They even did two albums worth of recording that weekend, the second still hasn't been released. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else in decade round ups. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Find this and buy it.

The Sun Ra Arkestra

Another 2 colour billboard poster. This one is as old as the hills, it's from 2001, for The Sun Ra Arkestra doing something of a double header with David Holmes. There's so much wrong with this one, it's an almost good looking poster.

Omelette

A deep cut! This is from 2001. Omelette is/was (who knows?) Ian Lawton's band. At the time I was playing drums. I think this was the only headline gig we did. Check out the guests, Ross from Joan of Arse doing a solo set and Richie Egan before he started using the name Jape. The photo is from Ian's street set he took back in 2000.

I stopped playing drums in Omo shortly after this and the lads recorded an album called Off By Heart. Pretty obscure but worth tracking down. Try Road Records, if they don't have it in stock just email Ian. I'm sure he'll send you a copy!

Aimee Mann

As old as the hills this one. Aimee Mann print advert from 2001. This appeared in Irish music mag Hot Press. Just look at the ugly placing of the logos, ugh. Seemingly Damien Rice asked for the support. I had a chance to right some of the wrongs made here with another Aimee Mann show in 2008 which I might post someday.

The Fall (Part 2)

Here's an old old The Fall poster. This is from 2001 when they were touring The Unutterable. Back in the days of the Redbox and punts (£). Above is the 2 colour screen printed version. Some funny moments at this gig where Mark was "live mixing", which actually involved walking over to the guitarist's amp and turning it down. The Fall are a band I've just dipped my toes into, what I have I generally like. They've been on my ToDo list for ages now. Too much flipping music...
