Avicii R.I.P.

Yet another Rest In Peace post. Here is an Avicii job I worked on in 2012. This is a repost.

Winterparty

The big dance music gig on the Halloween Bank Holiday. Lots of different versions of this knocking around, lots of rough work too. Eventually an image from the Wellcome Library seemed to fit the bill. We had a bit of fun with this towards the end of the campaign, some of it a bit cringy too, it has to be said.

George Fitzgerald

Doing a lot of dance show posters at the moment and this particular promotor likes a no-frills approach. Which is fine by me! Here's one for George Fitzgerald.

Gareth Emery / Marco V

More dance music. This is for Dublin dance promoters Letrik. They had a good idea about what they wanted. A no fuss DJ shot poster but the show is a double header so some basic 'shopping was required.

Podium

A fun poster for a 3 room saturday night club.

Tiesto

Another one from 2006. It's Tiesto and he's the best DJ in the world. Or so he says. To be honest I didn't really do much to this. With someone like Tiesto you follow the rules or someone gets in shit.

Carl Craig

I've been posting a lot of old stuff recently. Here's something new. Craig, Luciano and Armstrong in Dublin this March. Dig it.

Len Faki

Another record-time poster. Len Faki hitting Dublin next month. Always helps in these quick turnaround jobs when the artist has a good press kit.

Joris Voorn

Had to knock out a few last minute jobs before I go on holiday at the end of the week. Here's a quick one for Joris Voorn that turned out well.

Andrew Weatherall

Here's a poster for a Andrew Weatherall DJ gig in Galway last week. Kelly's has a template they like to use, that's the strap. I'll always associate Andrew Weatherall with the remix of My Bloody Valentine's Soon that was a staple of the indie disco inthe 90s. Probably still is.

515 vs Trainwreck

Quickish job for the summer Friday night line up in POD. 515 is the number of the train that famously crashed in the Old Harcourt Street station and I presume Trainwreck refers to that too. So I sourced a nice mechanics gritty image and did some work on it.

Magda

Simple poster for Magda from Berlin being put on by Subject. No sooner had this been the first draft been sent off when it showed up on her myspace page. I'd consider that a thumbs up.

Claude Young

Subject Events are bringing over techno DJ Claude Young this March. I've said before that the dancing music goes a little over my head but I get the impression that Claude is a bit of a big noise. So here's a brand new poster. I'm happy with the drawing of Claude and the no-frills typography. Ronan over at Subject liked it too and he's not easily pleased :-)

Diggers etc

I just found this file while doing some backing up on my computer. It's from 2008. The reason I'm posting this is that I have absolutely no recollection of doing this one. From the looks of it I'd say it was a last minute booking and instantly required poster. Could have been worse.

Big Dance Night

Here's a poster from 2008. Its for a big three-room dance night. The brief was to get across that there is loads of stuff going on, obviously the hands represent the three rooms. Pretty basic stuff but I've always liked this one.

Hype Summer Soundsystem

This was for last summer's regular Friday night gig in Dublin. This just laid out the thing and then there was weekly specific ones. As usual with 90% of my work there isn't the luxury of weeks of prep, or days even, more like minutes or hours. 2009 was all about Gotham wasn't it? I opted for it here, it's instantly gratifying.
